The Beautiful Girls hitmaker was hospitalised in Miami, Florida on 29 May (11) after he crashed a water vehicle into a bridge.
The singer was subsequently placed in critical condition as he underwent treatment in the trauma ward before being moved to the intensive care unit last week (May 30).
But the star is finally showing signs of improvement after taking his first few steps towards recovery.
A representative for the star tells TMZ.com, "Sean is breathing on his own and walked for the first time this morning. Sean Kingston continues to be hospitalised at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. His condition has been upgraded to serious."
